Northern Lights Piano Festival
is sprung out of the long history of Nordic Piano Competition.
It was created with the goal to create a community and to reach pianists of all ages and levels.
It started in summer 2021 and now present the 2nd edition in spring of 2023.
Nordic Piano Competition
The Nordic Piano Competition was established in 2002 in Sweden with the purpose of promoting piano culture in the Nordic countries.
The Nordic Piano Competition has been historically held in partnership with Blüthner Pianos, the Malmö School of Music, and subsequently since 2017 at the Ingesund School of Music, Karlstad University, together with Wermlands Opera Orchestra with support from the Nordic Culture Fund.

Nordic Junior Piano Competition
Since 2019 the Nordic Junior Piano Competition assembles the best young pianists under age of 18 in Nordic countries. The Competion includes a festival where pianists of all Nordic countries can meet in Arvika, Sweden and share their artistry and craftsmanship.

Nordic International Piano Competition
To advance our goals of fostering international cultural cooperation and exchange between the Nordic countries and the rest of the world, the online edition of the competition 2021 was open to pianists of all nationalities for the first time ever in an online format. The results were a huge success, with very high standard of playing in all age categories. Some of the prize winners were invited to Glafsfjorden Festival in Sweden the coming winter, as well as other events in Sweden.
The Nordic legacy
Support since 2002
Since the start of the competition in 2002 in Malmö in Sweden, Blüthner Pianos has supported the competition with a concert grand piano as well as main prizes.

Finals of Nordic Piano Competition was streamed on Swedish National Radio P2 and covered by Swedish National Television and mentioned in several major newspapers in Sweden and Finland.
Nordic cooperation
For the Nordic Competition and the Nordic Junior Competition 2019, pianists from music schools in all parts of all nordic countries participated and contributed to the big festive event.
